JR Jayawardene Memorial Monument in Japan

ACHIEVMENTS  OF  Mr.  J.  R.  JAYAWARDANE

In 19…. the then Prime Minister of Sri Lanka Mr. J. R. Jayawardane participated in the Non Aliened Nations Conference held in Japan.

The majority of the countries participated in the conference refused to accept  Japan as a Commonwealth country. But Mr. J. R. Jayawardane announced that malice cannot be destroyed by malicious decisions quoting Lord Buddha’s words “Vairayen Vairaya Nosansinde”. He then requested all countries to approve the granting of Commonwealth membership to Japan.

The whole Assembly agreed accordingly and thereafter the Japanese highly respected Mr. J. R. Jayawardane and Sri Lanka. They have offered so many development schemes and large scale construction works to Sri Lanka.
